Is it me or my equipment | The Hobby-Machinist

Ok I have an old CraftEx 2071 Lathe-mill combination unit. The gibs have all been adjusted and I lock them whenever I am doing something that allows it. The only metal I have access to is old grade 8 bolts and such in 1.25" diameter range, and some used shafts that can be either hot or cold rolled.

I bought a Craftex CT043 in 2004, a B048 knee mill too and a pile of tooling, all on the same day . A short time later, like, within a month the electric motor went out on the lathe, no big deal, warranty covered it and I changed it out myself . The lathe has run very well without issues since, until last month .

I tried to retire but am being drawn into the small runs, small parts business in Calgary. Next machine coming into my shop,, a sweet little Hardinge turret lathe. The little beast will bang out small parts faster than a Haas tl2.
