Using a rock tumbler, you can make black powder faster by milling the charcoal and potassium nitrate separately. 3 component milling takes much longer to make good powder. Don't anybody get your knickers in a twist over that statement.

Either go easy on your rock tumbler or get a more rugged ball mill! That amount is very heavy, but it's not too much for the double barrel mill - that's the amount I use. 200 balls fills the barrel half way and 120g powder fills the gaps, so it's the recommended charge for efficient milling. ...
